for anyone who doesn't know
i am currently in this program called asm(after school matters) and it's like.. an artsy fartsy program basically. i go downtown every tuesday through thursday from 4:30 until 7:30. i'm in advanced drawing and painting. it's basically a job. i just draw and do that shit for like 3 hours o.o this is a main reason i haven't had any trades up and finished here. i'm usually too burned out from drawing to finish things i have to do.
the program is a job more or less seeing as i'll get paid in the end. we do a lot of figure drawing and from life drawing, and work with charcoal, pastels, and paint. c: so it's really helpful if tiring.
this past sunday we went to national portfolio day in chicago and though i only got to talk to two schools one seemed really awesome.
saic is the school of the art institute in chicago and is a really good but REALLY expensive school right downtown here, but it seems really fucking awesome. they're interested in stories and ideas and storylines behind the art, not just the art, and this seemed very perfect to me. i got to show my portfolio(it was a couple drawings i did for myself and that are here on DA as well as a few things i did in gallery37(asm)) to a representative of the school and she seemed REALLY pleased with it, and actually accepted my portfolio right then and there. O_O so, applying aside, if i paid the tuition i would be a sure in for the school.
but she told me to try out for a merit scholarship. i would pretty much have to do 15 REALLY good art pieces that have something to do with each other, i.e a cohesive idea/story behind them. i could get anywhere from 2000 dollars to a full tuition. the only thing is it's fucking EXPENSIVE to go there so if i don't get enough for a scholarship i probably won't go. i was thinking of what i would do for the portfolio and i thought either erik's story or something else..well two somethings(if you're interested in the something else, note me, i'll let you in o: )
but i think i'm actually going to do my two years of general ed classes in a community college, and then apply for saic, which also gives me more time to work on artzzz. it's kind of late to be doing all this for me but whatevssss
tl;dr : really awesome college accepted me yayyy but figuring out what to do with myself
